The Community Involvement Committee works to create a sense of community where people feel welcome, safe and proud to live, work and play in the Powderhorn Park neighborhood. It uses the arts as a tool to build community, bring attention to, and create discussion on community issues and increase the economic vitality of neighborhood artists.

Come share Ideas on Planning a National Night Out Block Party

This year, National Night Out (NNO) happens on August 5th. Is your block having a party? Perhaps planning a NNO block party sounds overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be.

At the Neighborhood NNO Barbeque on Wednesday, June 18th you can learn how to plan and register a block party and find out what other blocks have done. Meet Crime Prevention Specialist Karen Notsch. Kidz Cafe

The purpose of Kidz Café is to serve dinner to the youth every other Friday from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at Powderhorn Park. Many of our youth are homeless or rarely receive a nourishing meal or contact from a caring adult. The Kidz Café will offer both. Different organizations and community residents will come and volunteer to serve the youth dinner that will already be prepared, interact with the youth and give them information on their organization or programs. This program is sponsored by Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association and Augsburg Campus Kitchen.

Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association Annual Plant Swap

The Powderhorn Park Neighborhood Association and the Community Garden at 3215 15th Avenue South will be hosting a Spring Plant Swap on Saturday, May 24th from  9am-noon.   

Annual Earth Day Clean Up

Description and details: 

The Earth Day cleanup is both an educational opportunity and a way to foster community involvement in the environment. The Earth Day Cleanup brings attention to the water quality improvement needs of our lakes and the effect individual actions have had on urban water quality. To participate in the clean-up, participants should arrive at Powderhorn Park Community Center between 9:30am-10am to register and pick up gloves and trash bags. We encourage youth groups to participate in the event. A celebration will follow at 11:30am with food, prizes, and art projects. Come help keep our Community and Lake Clean!
