A recent 2023 Minnesota Homeless Study, conducted through face-to-face interviews, revealed concerning trends, with over 10,000 individuals experiencing homelessness on any given night in 2023. Of particular concern is the increase in homelessness among families and older adults aged 55 and above. While there has been a nominal decrease since 2018, year-over-year fluctuations are exacerbated by factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic. In Hennepin County alone, the number of single adults experiencing homelessness has risen, attributed to factors like the end of eviction moratoriums and economic challenges. This emphasizes the urgent need for sustained solutions and why we must address this pressing issue as a community.
