We Will Rise

In the midst of an ongoing pandemic, the wake of civil uprisings ignited by the murder of George Floyd, and a resurgence of attention on housing inequities across the City as evidenced by the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board (MPRB) declaring parks resident sanctuaries for those experiencing homelessness, PPNA aims to work with and on behalf of the community to connect, inform, and inspire toward the community change and health we deserve in the following ways:

  • PPNA currently is the fiscal agent for five community-led projects.

  • We see and believe that community can help heal and strengthen community.

  • Between July – September, we will create an application process for community groups or individual artists aligned with PPNA’s mission who are interested in a fiscal agent to help advance their service in the community. .

  • As a fiscal agent, PPNA primarily provides bookkeeping support and a path to pursue fundraising opportunities as approved by the association.

  • More details on the application and information sessions will be announced by August 7th.

  • We strive to provide and encourage the community to raise their voice in a number of ways.

  • We are looking for 15 canvassers to help collect community input about ways to improve livability and safety and how to strengthen equitable development. More information will be coming soon!

  • Existing and newly-formed block groups are throughout Powderhorn. Register your group below so we can work together to keep the community informed more quickly, and gather your group's input with small group discussions and surveys.

  • Take a moment to submit a question, comment, or concern related to anything that is happening in the community at info@ppna.org. Input will be reviewed each Friday, and we will strive to follow up as needed by the following Tuesday.

  • Share your questions and concerns about our community health with our elected representatives for our area. Click here for their contact information.

  • The association collaborates with more than 400 community partners each year. These partnerships support our events, advocacy, and programs.

  • Help us capture, understand, and reflect our community voice and priorities more dynamically. If you are a consultant, graphic designer, photographer, videographer, illustrator, writer, or have other skills to share, consider volunteering to support one PPNA project or initiative each year.  Contact us at info@ppna.org to get involved.

  • Help drive direct actions connected to advocacy efforts. This involves writing letters to elected leaders, door knocking your neighbors, testifying at municipal committee and budget hearings, and helping to plan events that keep the community informed on advocacy related issues.

  • The association is always looking for grants and sponsorships that can help fuel our work. If you work for a company or organization or have a connection to one that provides funds and resources to strengthen the community, please consider making an introduction or letting us know about the opportunity. You can email the Executive Director; tabitha@ppna.org.

  • Tell us about someone or a group doing cool, hard, or interesting work to serve the community. We would like to highlight and thank them for their efforts each month. Send us a note to info@ppna.org
