Earth Day is Thursday, April 22nd! Here are a few events, workshops, and clean-up initiatives to celebrate this year.
Join Family of Trees and Mitig Nation for their virtual Decolonizing Earth Day event
Family of Trees and MItig Nation are hosting a virtual Earth Day event on April 23rd from 5-7pm. The event will bring participants together to celebrate, liberate, and be grateful!
Attendees will gather virtually in song, poetry, and commitment to care for the Earth, the Commons, and each other. This Earth Day celebration is a call for healing. As Cornel West says, “Justice is Love made Public". Mitig Nation calls you in as sponsors, attendees, activators, and creators to amplify our belonging to Mother Earth. Learn more and register here.
Our MN Climate forum series: Adapting to more extreme weather
Join the MPCA on Thursday, April 22nd at 6-7pm for a virtual Earth Day event to explore how increasing extreme weather due to climate change is impacting local communities — and ways that Minnesotans are preparing for these major weather events.
Panelists will discuss the challenges that communities face from more frequent and intense storms, including flooded streets, damaged homes and businesses, and sewer backups and overflows. Participants will hear from voices from municipalities and tribal nations about the needs and opportunities for helping communities across the state prepare for and adapt to these challenges. To learn more about the event and how to submit your own questions and watch, visit climate.state.mn.us/get-involved.
