Nathan Sartain is program director and instructor at Saint Paul College Culinary Arts. He has served in this role since 2005. Nathan received his formal culinary training from Western Culinary Institute in Portland, OR. He has a BA in Culinary Management from Metropolitan State University in Saint Paul. Sartain is a certified executive chef, certified culinary educator and approved culinary evaluator with the American Culinary Federation. He was named a Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees Outstanding Educator in 2012, the 2015 American Culinary Federation Minneapolis Chefs Educator of the Year and was named Community Hero at the 2019 Charlie Awards; greater Twin Cities annual food industry awards. In 2016, Sartain was a guest of the Basque government to study international best practices in culinary education in San Sabastian, Spain. In 2017 he was named an Honorary Professor at China University of Technology in Taiwan. He regularly travels to Taiwan to teach Western cooking technique at regional universities and to develop international work and study opportunities for culinary students. Nathan Sartain
