Advocacy Recap: 1st Quarter 2023

PPNA's collaborative approach to advancing community well-being in and around Powderhorn focuses on environmental justice, equitable development, housing justice, livability, and safety. Check out the progress we've made in the first quarter of 2023 and ways you can get involved!

Environmental Justice

Welcome to PPNA, Justice Jones! Justice is our new Environmental Justice Community Coordinator and comes to PPNA from Juxtaposition Arts, where she worked as a teaching artist. We are so excited to bring Justice and all her creativity, critical thinking, and organizing experience to our team. Join us in welcoming her to the neighborhood.

Equitable Development

38th Street United (38SU) works to identify, amplify, and resource community development needs along 38th Street. This spring, 38SU is teaming up with the Lake Street Council to ask the state for millions of dollars to support community development along Twin Cities cultural corridors. Our goal is to communicate about 38SU's work on a monthly basis. Sign up here for emails!

Housing Justice

The Renter Support Fund is currently closed, but you can help us re-open it! We need to raise $23,544 by June 30 to re-open the program and support the many renters who have requested funds. We are just over halfway to our goal, thanks to the generous support of the community. If you or your business want to donate or sponsor the program, you can learn more and contribute here!

Livability & Safety

We all deserve to feel safe in our homes, welcome in our neighborhood, and connected to one another. Yet in recent years, rising community and state violence have threatened our collective sense of safety. This spring, PPNA aims to understand what kinds of resources community members need in response to various experiences of violence or fear. Stay tuned for ways to share your experiences with us!
