PPNA believes that social connection contributes to public safety. The act of gathering with our neighbors can build trust, a sense of belonging, and the community networks to keep us safe.
NNO and NOSL
On August 2nd, you and your neighbors may wish to host an event for either National Night Out or a newer alternative, Night Out for Safety & Liberation.
National Night Out (NNO) is a national celebration of police-community partnerships. NNO takes place every year on the first Tuesday in August and is organized by registered block club leaders. Block club leaders can register an event with the City of Minneapolis here. Learn more about National Night Out here.
Night Out for Safety & Liberation (NOSL) is an annual event where people come together to imagine safety beyond policing, prisons, and punishment. Anyone can host an event for NOSL. Register your event here with the Ella Baker Center to receive promotional support, materials, and (potentially) event grants. Learn more about Night Out for Safety & Liberation here.
PPNA will help promote!
If you are hosting an NNO or NOSL event, PPNA can help promote it to the community. Just fill out this form and we will share it on our blog, website, and social media platforms! If you’d rather not fill out the form, you can also let us know about your event by emailing julia@ppna.org.
