First Glance: The Wonders of the Powderhorn Art Fair

The Powderhorn Art Fair returns, bigger and more spectacular than ever, in just TWO weeks to Powderhorn Park, August 3rd & 4th, from 10 AM - 5 PM daily. This highly anticipated and beloved community event brings together local artists, delicious food vendors, and an array of family fun activities for all ages. Here's a SNEAK PEEK at what activities we have in store for you this year...

The ART

Art by Brian Viamontes Booth #88

The Powderhorn Art Fair is a haven for art enthusiasts showcasing the incredible talents of local and regional artists. This year, we are thrilled to host over 250 artists (190 juried artists, group exhibitors, upcycle artists, and floral & garden market vendors), each bringing their dynamic and unique craftsmanship to the fair. Artist categories include clay, digital art, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media 2D & 3D, painting, paper, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and wood.

With a small but mighty team, we are still working on cataloging all 190 exhibitors on our 2024 Artist Directory. So far, Clay, Digital Art, Drawing, Fiber, and Glass artists have been added for you to explore!

If you follow us on our Powderhorn Art Fair social media accounts, you’ll get sneak peeks of artists not yet featured in the directory thanks to our daily Artist Spotlights! Make sure to follow our Powderhorn Art Fair accounts on Instagram and Facebook. We appreciate your patience while we work on getting this year’s artist directory updated before the first weekend in August!

The EATS

This year, the Powderhorn Art Fair features an exciting lineup of food trucks and stands offering a diverse range of culinary delights. The art fair wouldn’t be complete without the cinnamon sugar aroma of freshly made donuts fried to golden perfection. We are excited to welcome back Hopper’s Mini Donuts, a woman-owned and family-run business, with a sugary sweet origin-love story.

In the mood for something savory? We’re excited to introduce Messy Jesse’s, a new steak and chicken restaurant, to our 2024 vendors! Messy Jesse’s features premium New York Strip steak in all their menu items. Their Original Messy Jesse is a delicious steak sandwich topped with caramelized onion and mushroom in a gooey crispy concoction of Swiss and provolone cheeses. If you think you can handle the spice, their Spicy Slaw Messy takes the heat up a notch! Their rice bowls are a hefty dose of flavor while their Messy Fries continue to be a fan favorite.

Thirsty? The Thirsty Dragon offers a variety of delicious handcrafted bubble tea beverages with fresh and premium ingredients. From the traditional milk and Thai teas to noncaffeinated offerings such as their beautiful Pink Lady or a watermelon refresher, we are confident you will find a delicious drink to quench your thirst.

The COMMUNITY

In addition to awe-inspiring art, and flavorful cuisine, we are excited to announce our incredible Community Partners! Our art fair is rooted in the diverse and vibrant community members who make Powderhorn the neighborhood we know and love. We are excited to partner with Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en la Lucha (CTUL), a worker-led organization where workers organize, educate, and empower each other to fight for a voice in their workplaces and communities. CTUL's mission aligns with our own, partnering with organizations and leaders to build a movement to win racial, gender, and economic justice. Stop by their table at Zone C2 to learn more about their invaluable work in our neighborhood.

Another community organization we are proud to partner with this year is the Sahan Journal. The Sahan Journal is a nonprofit news org dedicated to telling stories about immigrants and communities of color in Minnesota. They cover business and labor, housing, immigration, climate & environment, culture & community, democracy & politics, education, health, and policing & justice. Visit Sahan Journal in Zone B to learn how you can contribute to their mission to uplift community voices.
