Partner Spotlight: Corcoran Neighborhood Organization (CNO)

Corcoran Neighborhood Organization (CNO) was established in 1975 around a grassroots effort by neighborhood residents to establish Corcoran Park on the site of a closed school. Building on this victory, CNO has continued to unite and equip neighbors to improve and protect the neighborhood. CNO is a non-partisan information source, spokesperson, and advocate for the community on civic affairs, and strives to engage community members on issues that may have a positive or negative impact on the community. CNO serves the area bounded by East Lake Street to the north, East 36th Street to the south, Hiawatha Avenue to the east, and Cedar Avenue to the west.

At CNO we unite neighbors to strengthen our community, collectively creating a community that fosters leadership, engagement and a sense of belonging for all. CNO also operates a food and life resource center (C-Spot) daily where people from communities around the metro may come in and shop for food and personal hygiene items. The C-Spot is sustained through donations from the community, please stop in to learn more. CNO is also actively working to help prevent violence in the community in partnership with T.O.U.C.H Outreach walks Lake Street and known violent or drug hot spots in the area connecting with neighbors, visitors, and business owners. We offer resources, food and connect building relationships that allow for safe de-escalation in the heat of a moment.

CNO is also home to the Midtown Farmers Market, voted the best Farmers Market in Minneapolis many times over. The Midtown Farmers Market is located at the corner of Lake & Hiawatha just steps away from the light rail station. Midtown Farmers Market is one of the very few Black and Queer-led and operated farmers markets in the entire state with one of the most diverse vendor selections

to be found near and far. The Midtown Farmers Market operates Tuesday's 3-7pm and Saturday 8-1pm please stop by and shop and support the local economy. Please feel free to support our work by making a financial investment or investing your time check out our website for more information.
