New preferred concept plan for Powderhorn Park improvements

From the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board:

A preferred concept plan for Powderhorn Park improvements is now available for comment and review! This plan is the culmination of extensive community engagement throughout spring and summer 2022, when over 300 people shared ideas and feedback through in-person outreach, pop-up meetings and online surveys.

Following that engagement, the design team developed a work scope, along with two draft concept plans showing possible design approaches (see the October 6 project update). Public feedback on those draft concepts was considered in developing the new preferred concept plan. This plan integrates and balances community needs and desires, as well as staff input, maintenance and site considerations, park master plan goals and budget constraints.

Next Steps

Everyone is welcome to review the preferred concept plan and share their comments via email or in person at the public hearing on December 7, 2022 (details below).

Following the public hearing, Park Board Commissioners will consider public input and vote on whether to approve the preferred concept plan. If approved, the project moves into the final design and construction phases.
