Public Comment: Proposed Changes to the Unified Housing Policy

From the City of Minneapolis

The City invites community feedback on proposed changes (attached) to the Amended and Restated Unified Housing Policy. These changes seek to clarify the definitions between a multi-phased development project and a building site for which a building permit is issued, as they relate to the Inclusionary Zoning policy. The purpose of these changes is to make clear that Inclusionary Zoning requirements apply to each building in a multi-phase development. Inclusionary Zoning is intended to advance the City’s housing goals by ensuring that affordable housing is provided in new residential or mixed-use developments.

The deadline to submit comments is Monday, August 23rd by 4:30pm. Please provide public comments to Emily Carr. If you or your group would like to meet to discuss the changes, or if you have questions, please contact Emily Carr at emily.carr@minneapolismn.gov.

It is expected that these changes will be considered at the following meetings of the Minneapolis City Council and its committees:

  • Business, Inspections, Housing & Zoning Committee

Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 1:30pm

  • City Council

Friday, September 10, 2021 at 9:30am
